Engineering: Shade - September
Students will understand the need for protection from sunlight. They will design and build a structure than can block the sun to create a shaded area.

States of Matter- OctoberStudents will learn about the three phases of matter. They will learn to identify a solid, liquid and a gas and a chemical reaction through hands-on experiments.
Prep: Need to make "fizzing foam dough" ahead of time. Need to have 1 soda per pair/group of students for each class (contact coordinator).

Life Science Snail Investigation- MarchStudents will get the opportunity for hands-on observation and investigation of garden snails. The experiments will help to encourage student to think about what snails eat, how they move and if they have feelings. By direct observation students will be more appreciative of some of the wonders of the natural world and gain respect for other living creatures.
Prep: Find snail shells & gather snail "food"

Sounds and Light Waves- JanuaryStudents will learn about the three phases of matter. They will learn to identify a solid,
liquid and a gas and a chemical reaction through hands-on experiments.
Attention: Make sure there are enough toilet paper rolls & tin cans. If not, ask other parents for donations.

Forces, Motions, and Friction- MayStudents will learn about potential and kinetic energy and centripetal force through three hands-on experiments.
Attention: Make sure there are enough toilet paper rolls & tin cans. If not, ask other parents for donations.

Space Systems & Travel- DecemberStudents will learn about the International Space Station: life on board the station and what astronauts do on the ISS. Students will also experiment with Newton’s Third Law of Motion by designing a Bubble Powered Rocket.
Prep: Make copies |
