Life Science - Worm Investigation- AprilStudents will get the opportunity for hands-on observation and investigation of earth worms. The experiments will be used to encourage student to think about the importance of worms to the plant cycle as well as benefits to humans. Students will learn the parts of a worm and will gain respect for living creatures.
Attention: Contact coordinator for worms. Docents bring in "worm food." |
Soil Erosion- MayThrough hand’s-on experiments, students will learn how the shape of the earth’s topography is effected by weathering and erosion.
Prep: Need ice cubes- Can use ice trays in lab freezer. Need to make jello in reusable aluminum pans. Lab also needs 3-bottles filled with various items (Experiment #2) & can be found next to lab box.

Forces, Motion, and Friction- Nov/DecStudents will learn about potential and kinetic energy and centripetal force through three hands-on experiments.

Engineering & Design- MarchStudents will learn about the engineering of flight and the design of gliders by making their own rocket and glider.

Fossils- JanuaryStudents will participate in one activity that demonstrates how fossils are made and one activity involving the excavation of a “fossil”
Prep: Will need to make "salt dough" & "fossils". |
