Welcome!
We are excited to welcome you to the 2024-2025 Rock Creek Science Docent Program and invite you to come join our team. Below you will find information about our Program and the volunteer opportunities.
Looking for a fun way to help at Rock Creek? Be a Science Docent!
Science docents are parent volunteers who lead a fun, hands-on science activity for your child’s class in the science lab about 4-5 times during the school year.
Not a scientist? Not a problem. All the information and materials are provided. The lessons include a brief review of the topic and detailed instructions for each activity. Each grade has a coordinator to assemble your supplies and answer questions.

About Our Program
The Rock Creek Elementary Science Program was initiated in the 2013-2014 school year. It is a completely volunteer run program. It is a unique program which allows students from TK through 6th grade to have fun and explore with hands-on experiments about four times a year in a dedicated science lab. None of this could be possible without our parent volunteers!
The program is unique in that, the experiments are facilitated and led by parents. This close relationship between parents, teachers and students fosters greater learning opportunities for students, greater participation by parents and provides teachers the flexibility to teach the depth and breadth of the subject matter.
Teachers teach, parents support and our children succeed!
