Sun Safety- September
Students will learn about UV rays, the affects UV rays have on our bodies and how students can better protect themselves.
Prep: Will need make sure there are enough copies of handout & pre-cut paper plates w/string.

Light Color Science- JanuaryStudents will learn that color comes from light. They will explore primary colors and what happens when primary colors are mixed together
Prep: Will need to make sure there is enough cotton fabric pre-cut for each student.

Weather Science- FebruaryStudents will learn about weather, the water cycle and demonstrate how hurricanes and rain are formed.
Prep: A lab requires ice-either bring ice or make ice using trays ahead of time. This lab also requires warm water- can use microwave or the water heating pitcher next to the microwave.

-States of Matter- MarchStudents will learn about the three phases of matter. They will learn to identify a solid, liquid and a gas and a chemical reaction through hands-on experiments.
Prep: This lab requires Dry Ice & lemon juice. You need to let the coordinator know so they can have this ready for you on the day of your lab. One experiment requires ice to be frozen in various sized plastic containers as well as traditional ice cubes which can be made using the labs' trays.

Plant Life Cycle- AprilStudents will learn about the plant life cycle by hands-on observation and planting of bulb vegetables and/or plants. The experiments will be used to encourage student to think about the importance of the Plant Life Cycle and its benefits to humans.
This lab requires various plant leaves, flowers & seeds that need to be gathered prior to the time of the lab. |
